MWIS currently produce forecasts for 8 different mountain areas of the UK as an aid to mountain safety. These forecasts are now viewed online by 2 million visitors a year, and can be read on the appropriate webpage, downloaded as a printable PDF, or accessed via internet enabled mobile phone. MWIS now produce forecasts 7 days a week, 52 weeks a year for 8 mountain areas.
Mountain forecasts are provided for the main mountain areas and those which have the highest visitor figures.
Forecasts cover daylight hours and contain information such as: hazard risk, overview, 3 hourly weather summary, probability of precipitation, visibility, hill fog, maximum winds, valley and summit level temperatures, freezing level, latest pressure chart
and a general outlook for the next few days
Avalanche hazard considerations should always be part of any winter hill goers daily plans and we would recommend that climbers, walkers and off-piste skiers currently venturing into the hills, continue to note snow and weather conditions in respect of any potential avalanche hazard. Be prepared to modify your plans accordingly.
To try to keep our carbon footprint to a minimum we are pleased to provide transport to the hill/crag from local accommodation.
